Bring astrological herbalism into your life with these recipes from Mrs. Winkler's Cosmic Apothecary.
Sagittarian “natives”, plus those born with malefic planets in this sign, might sometimes tend to inflammatory neuromuscular and/or muscular-skeletal complaints, spinal issues, restlessness, sciatica, and similar themes of a “hot” nature.
Mrs. Winkler has looked into this matter and designed a massage oil specific to December’s upcoming hot planet stressors building up around the Sagittarius season full Moon of December 7th-8th, 2022. (The exact date depends on your time zone). However, she insists that your physician should first “Ok” any massage oil prior to your use, in order to rule out possible, but rare, allergic responses (only they know your allergy history). Essential oils are powerful!
Sagittarius strongly influences neuromuscular systems and coordination, spinal nerves, the arterial system, the sciatic nerve, and the hips, and thighs, plus our hopefully comfortable locomotion. Curiously, this sign appears to also influence the ligaments more than any other sign! This massage oil is specially designed to soothe and serve most “Sagittarian” body complaints, already receiving Mars’ extra attention!
December’s Full Moon occurs precisely as Mars closely conjoins the full Moon-in-Gemini, while simultaneously opposing the Sun-in-Sagittarius! (Join the monthly Forecast to get the details!)Traditionally, this stimulating alignment would ratchet up the vigilance of a stone!
Hypothetically, “Sagittarian Soother” massage oil is especially helpful for those born with their Sun, Moon, Ascendant, Mars, Uranus, or Mercury in the nervous signs Sagittarius, Virgo, or Gemini. Those also might apply who are born with either Node in Gemini, or Sagittarius. (Warning: As with any other massage oil, use Sagittarian Soother only with your physician’s approval).
BEST TIMING: Full Moon day, and/or one day prior.
IN PACIFIC TIME (adjust to your time zone)
FULL MOON: December 7th, 8:08 pm Pacific, Moon conjunct Mars 8:19 pm Pacific, Sun oppose Mars 9:42 pm Pacific.
THE RECIPE
“SAGITTARIAN SOOTHER” Massage Oil. Best used in a quiet space with harp music playing. If possible, remove the color red from the room.
This recipe will make a small bottle (4 oz). Double amounts are given for an 8 oz bottle). Astrologically, this oil (and its suggested use times) are best suited to calm nervous, agitated, stressed, or hyperactive people of any sign - applied, as a massage aid, to the spinal column, hips, gluteals, thighs, shoulders, arms, hands, feet, and all large muscles groups. Hypothetically, its antipathetical use, applied near the stressful aspects listed above, may neutralize this excessive cosmic stimulation, thus allaying possible symptom intensification.
Renowned Medical psychic and prophet, Edgar Cayce, would remind us to massage gently, in a circular motion, in between each vertebrae. (Cayce gave very specific directional instructions regarding this, but Mrs. Winkler cannot recall. It is worthwhile to find them!)
Combine:
Cold Pressed Flaxseed Oil: 2oz (ligament-specific oil)
Olive Oil. 2 oz
Add:
9-12 drops of Peppermint, Mentha piperita, essential oil (to level of strength preferred).
9-12 drops of Lavender, Lavandula, essential oil (to level of strength preferred).
9-12 drops of Blue Vervain, Verbena hastata, essential oil (to level of strength preferred)
9-12 drops Myrrh Oil Commiphora myrrha
Traditionally, this combination is best for inflamed, hot, tense muscles with stressed, irritated nerves, (coincident with insomnia, restlessness, panic, or anxiety).
However, if you have a cold, stiff case: Rosemary or Ginger oils can be substituted for the Peppermint Oil - but it won’t smell anywhere near as nice with the Linseed Oil!
Caveat: Flaxseed oil has a slight earthy nutlike odor, not to the liking of everyone, although many do enjoy it. However, this slight scent pleasantly hides in the recipe as given. For ligament health, Australia’s late, great herbalist Dorothy Hall suggests the altered artists’ “linseed oil” - made from the same flax seed as the health enthusiast’s pristine “flaxseed oil”. However, artists’ linseed oil really stinks, and may well contain undesirable additives. The interested should look up Hall’s tracts on this subject.
