Timing Vaccination Dates Using Electional Astrology

In June’s debut Medical Astrology Forecast (forecasting July), an astute attendee aptly asked “what planetary aspects should be avoided for disease inoculation?”

This question ushers us into to the fascinating realm of “Medical Elections”, that subfield of medical astrology devoted to elective timing of various medical procedures. Student Resources are provided at end.

Here is a list of transiting planet aspects-to-natal (birth chart) planets that facilitate more negative reactions. These transits are potentized when several of these transits occur simultaneously to the natal planets, within very close orbs (0-3˚).

The logic and method is simple: Astrologically, Mars and Mercury govern the medicine and its application (the needle - Mars). Next, we try to avoid transits that are associated with untoward physical responses. There are several “transit avoids” listed on my below list. Each singly provides one astrological “testimony” in the direction of avoidance. Astrologers look for compounding testimonies in one solid direction, unbalanced by positive transits. These more helpful indicators are listed following the “avoids”.

TRANSIT AVOIDS (with physician’s consent). These transit testimonies are more important if not concurrent with helpful transits to the natal chart (balancing these negatives out), and, if two or more of these “testimonies” are occurring on the same date. This list is not complete by any means, but fairly comprehensive of the most essential avoids. Particularly keep your eye on what transit Mercury and Mars are doing. In astrological thinking, these two planets symbolically deliver the vaccination!

• Transit Mercury conjunct, square, oppose or quincunx natal Mars within 0-1˚ orb.

• Transit Mercury conjunct, square, oppose or quincunx natal Saturn within 0-1˚ orb.

• Transit Mercury conjunct, square, oppose or quincunx natal Uranus, Neptune or Pluto within 0-1˚ orb.

• Transit Mercury conjunct natal South Node within 0-3˚

• Transit Mars conjunct natal South Node within 0-10˚ (approaching) or 0-5˚ (departing). This orb could be extended in some cases.

• Transit Mars conjunct North Node (speculatively, this is not as bad as the South Node). 0-5˚ approaching or departing (maybe more).

• Transit Mars conjunct, square, oppose or quincunx natal Mercury within 0-3˚ orb.

• Transit Mars conjunct, square, oppose or quincunx natal Sun within 0-3˚ orb.

• Transit Mars conjunct, square, oppose or quincunx natal Moon within 0-3˚ orb.

• Transit Mars conjunct, square, oppose or quincunx natal Neptune, Uranus or Pluto within 0-3˚ orb.

• Transit Sun conjunct natal South Node, Saturn or Mars (0-5˚)

• Transit Sun oppose or quincunx natal Sun within 0-5˚ (lowers the Vital Force, and is significant for elders).

• Transit Moon conjunct natal South Node, Saturn, Uranus, Pluto or Mars (0-5 for South Node, 0-3 less for others). The Lunar conjunction of her South Node is with a good orb is the greatest avoid of this immediate group - this lasts about twelve hours.

• Transit Moon conjunct Uranus (too great chance of electrical reversals).

Outer Planet Transits to the Natal Chart

Please note that any transit from an outer planet may continue in duration for many months. This is one reason we use tight orbs of 0-1 degrees. It has also been known that the transits outer planets are far stronger if occurring within one degree.

Outer Planet Transits-to-Natal List

• Transit Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, square, oppose or quincunx natal Mercury within 0-1˚ orb. If this is attended by any of the above, especially an exact reverse aspect, take heed: (e.g. Transit Neptune quincunx natal Mercury as transit Mercury conjuncts natal Neptune). Always check for this kind of “doubling”.

• Transit Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, square, oppose or quincunx natal Mars within 0-1˚ orb. If this is attended by any of the above, especially an exact reverse aspect, take heed: (e.g. Transit Neptune quincunx natal Mars as transit Mars conjuncts natal Neptune). Always check for this kind of “doubling”.

• Transit Mars-Saturn midpoint conjunct or oppose natal Mercury, Mars, Sun, Moon, Ascendant (attendant with other testimonies)

• Transit Mars-Neptune midpoint  conjunct or oppose natal Mercury, Mars, Sun or Moon, Ascendant (attendant with other testimonies)

• Transit Mars-Uranus midpoint conjunct or oppose natal Mercury, Mars, Sun, Moon, Ascendant (attendant with other testimonies)

• Transit Mars-Pluto midpoint conjunct or oppose natal Mercury, Mars, Sun, Moon, Ascendant. (attendant with other testimonies)

BALANCING TESTIMONIES (POSITIVE TRANSITS)

• Jupiter’s conjunction, trine and sextile, by 0-3˚, sometimes more, is very protective when occurring to Sun, Moon, Mercury or Mars.

• Venus’ close conjunction (0-1˚) of Sun, Moon, Mercury or Mars is capable of allaying extreme responses.

• Jupiter, Venus, Mercury or Sun near the natal North Node is helpful.

• Transit Sun trine or conjunct natal Jupiter within 0-3˚ orb (sometimes more).

• Transit Sun in 0-1˚ trine or sextile of natal Neptune is helpful (but do not rely exclusively on this one aspect).

• Transit Venus or Jupiter conjunct Ascendant (as long as they are not also on the natal South Node).

• Transit Venus-Jupiter midpoint conjunct Sun, Moon, Ascendant-Descendant, Mars or Mercury.

• Transit Moon conjunct Venus or Jupiter within 0-3˚ (if they are well positioned and dignified in the natal chart).
